Hellllloooooo my dudes!!
I had this realization over the weekend as I was struggling to get everything done: GETTING THINGS DONE ON WEEKENDS IS IMPOSSIBLE. I don’t know what it is about the days that start with S – I just can’t. Even. Do. Anything. I’d like to blame it on my demonspawn or something, but I really can’t. It’s all just me. hahaha!
SO. Tuesday is the day for Chronology going forward.
“BUT SARAH!” You may be shouting, “IT’S WEDNESDAY!” Yeah. I know. Best laid plans and all that. We had CRAZY storms on Monday that took out our power/internet/cell phones, and I didn’t have cell service or internet for most of the day yesterday. I had to drive a few miles down the road to send a text message, so video uploading and blog posting was pretty much impossible!
SO IT GOES.
Week 6 Prompts:
Look up ‘art techniques’ on Pinterest and try one
Paste in an inspirational painting by your favorite artist
List or journal about achievements you’re proud of
Goddess of Nature
This week I’ve started something new! I’m recording my spreads as I do them and will be offering those videos as a Patreon reward (mixed media level II and III). FULL LENGTH. ALL OF THE RAMBLING. Seriously: This week’s video is over an hour long. I had to cut out a bunch of stuff just to get it THAT short. So it’s a ton ton TON of information. And rambling. Always lots of rambling. hahaha
The first technique that popped up on Pinterest for me was a found poetry technique. I use a lot of found poetry in my work in general, but I had never seen anyone keep the page and cut the words you don’t want. The version I saw actually cut every word out individually. It looked REALLY COOL, but I don’t have the patience for that. So I cut out sentences and then laid it over a magazine ad:
I used the words that I cut out of the page to add found poetry to the other art pieces in an effort to unify everything.
Lately I’m constantly trying to work in some collage, so I was super excited that it popped up as the technique/media prompt this week. I also ended up using collage in every art prompt! And ridiculousness commenced:
My favorite artist inspirational glue-in and achievements are up there in the full spread!
I painted my nature goddess and then used collaged branches and birds to finish her off:
I totally neglected the color scheme this week. I totally forgot about it until i was all done. WHOOPS!!!! Oh well. I’m the boss, journal!!
See you next week! XO!
