Greetings and salutations, lovebugs!
Earlier this week, I posted about a stencil giveaway, and, with the magic of modern technology (i.e., random.org), I have picked a winner!
Congratulations, Big Katie K!! I’ll be emailing you to see which design you want! *confetti*
Several months ago, I posted about my giant dictionary journal, which I called “the story of my life” – I posted about it for a couple of weeks and then dropped it. I continued using it for Journal52 and Patreon and whatnot, but I stepped away from the point of it, which was growing my own voice specific to art journaling.
I am still stuck on the idea of Chronicles. I love the thought of something so specifically ME. I am bummed about the name (a relatively famous mixed media artist has a similarly-named project), but I think I just figured it out.
- the arrangement of events or dates in the order of their occurrence.
- a document displaying an arrangement of events in order of their occurrence.
This is probably even more perfect than “chronicles” as a title. I think I might even redo the cover of my dictionary.
What I’m hoping for is a continued reworking of the way I art journal while still keeping track of events (both personal and world events), highlights, lists, product experimentation, etc.
So this is how it works:
I took all of the prompts from the previous Chronicles project and loaded them into a random list generator. I added prompts for drawing from Art Trader and the 100 things to draw lists from Wonderstrange. Every week I will post a list of prompts to work with during the week. There will be supply-specific prompts, color-specific prompts, and drawing challenges. There will be record-keeping, journaling, and photography. It’s like Chronicles on steroids.
This is a group project (should you choose to join in), and there is a Facebook group for posting of art!
I’ve posted some teasers this week as I’ve worked with the prompts, but here’s the entire spread:
WHOA HOLY CRAZY.
I thought about working to blend things together, but, in the end, I decided that utter chaos really really REALLY fit my mental state last week. So chaos it is!!
Prompts, Week 1:
Use something you’re hoarding.
Books you’ve read this week.
Your version of the Goddess of Joy
I started with the “something you’re hoarding” and glued down a bunch of random magazine images and a meme. (I don’t have a picture of this specifically, but the apple stack, the condom wrapper, the cantaloupe, and the Negan were all in my stash of images).
On day two, I blind drew this dude and then painted him with acrylic in the color scheme of the week.
On day 3, I used ink to paint a Goddess of Joy:
Or maybe the goddess of really good drugs. hahahha!
On day 4, I used the apple slices to make my book list (and misspelled “chronicles,” which is ironic and freaking annoying). I realize not everyone reads four books in a week. I know I’m a freak 😉
On day 5, I filled in the rest with random weirdness:
Next week I’m hoping to actually bring everything together into a cohesive whole, but this works for now.
I will be posting sneak peeks (and possibly videos) on my Patreon, Instagram, and Facebook through the week as I work with the prompts – I’m not spending much time on them each day (less than 30 minutes).
I hope you’ll join me!! The Facebook group is here (so you don’t have to scroll up.. haha)
